Dunea Hotel Room

This 40 square-metre guest room is part of the same reconstruction of the Dunea Hotel in Sturovo, sited to look out over the Danube and the Ostrihom Basilica across the water. A sage-green channel-tufted headboard runs the width of the room and continues into a matching pair of curved velvet lounge chairs, grounded by a dark patterned carpet threaded with fine gold lines. Behind the bed, an oversized sepia-toned mural of classical ruins gives the space a sense of history without resorting to literal period detail, while sheer floor-length curtains and warm brass-toned pendant lighting keep the mood soft in the evening. Ribbed wood panelling and a fluted wardrobe front add textural depth to the room’s more restrained surfaces. The result is a hotel room that feels both contemporary and quietly connected to its setting.
